To apply ElevateIP Alberta, startups must have worked with a Business Accelerator/Incubator (BAI) that validates:
- A robust business model canvas (BMC)
- A complete and up-to-date cap table
- A growth strategy document
This page outlines the process for both current and new Innovate Calgary members.
How the Program Works
By
filling in this form you express your interest in having Innovate Calgary (IC)
support your application to ElevateIP Alberta. Our program works the following
way:
- Sign
up for a 3-month membership ($900 paid up front) or ensure you have available
hours if you are a current member
- Complete
the free ElevateIP Alberta onboarding modules ”Start Here: Master your
application” and “Introduction to the BMC” (here)
- Get
matched with a certified Expert Advisor (EA) to guide you (EAs advise, but do
not complete the work for you).
- Work
on your BMC, cap table, and growth strategy with EA guidance (up to 7.5 hours
over 3 months)
- EA
submits the documents to IC for review
- IC
signs your Letter of Support (LOS), for ElevateIP Alberta
- Submit
your application to ElevateIP Alberta
For
Current Members- If
you have available hours, you will be matched with an EA
- If not, you can
purchase an additional 3-month membership to access EA support
For
New Members - If
your startup aligns with one of Innovate Calgary’s innovation hubs, we will
reach out and connect you with a hub representative to start your
membership
- Once registered, you
will be matched with an EA to begin the process
Possible
Outcomes of Working with an EA
- Ready to apply before using all 7.5 hours → use remaining hours for other support
- Ready to apply after 7.5 hours → EA informs IC, and your LOS is signed
- Not ready after 7.5 hours → If you want to continue, you must purchase another 3-month membership
Membership Benefits
- Venture Backbone (discounted services for startups)
- Expert Advisor hours (accrue 2.5 hours/month)
- Access to the creative studio (audiovisual equipment)
- Use of shared desks at Innovate Calgary offices
